Success of the new sub-brand proposition


Following our recent cooperation with Public in developing their new Retail Concept, we were challenged with a task to create a brand identity for Public +Home sub-brand. This was necessary because from August 2023 the Greek Media Markt stores were operating under the Public brand name. Retaining existing MediaMarkt customers was the most important task in the store transformation process and as such, a major focus for Public moving forward.  


Our challenge was to redefine the Public brand to meet the needs of the MediaMarkt customers and add credibility in home appliances category, including value for money, variety, expertise, financing and seriousness.


The new sub brand manifests the natural extension of Public into the home sector. It is an organic extension of the Public brand; however, highlighting that this extension is achieved by incorporating the know-how; expertise; legacy & category depth of MediaMarkt. Value proposition is visually integrated into the sub-brand architecture.

The new sub-brand concept was applied to the store facade, in store communications as well as outdoor advertising, website etc. The new branding now supports wider online/ offline marketing campaigns.

The success of this new store concept and rebranding has exceeded the expectations of Public. 13 unique stores now combine the expertise of MediaMarkt in home appliances and the Public experience.  

It appears that Public customers have cherished the new wider product offer. New combined retail/online offers make it easier for the customers to shop, and Public is gaining market share on the home appliances sector.  


The success is also reflected in the Public Group’s figures, with increased the sales by 21% in the first half of 2023 and expects to return to net profitability in 2024.
